What Will Happen at the Rally
- You’ll get a pinney. Put your pony club pin on it. You need to keep your pinney and pony club pin on all the time.
- When you get to the rally, your parents can help you set the area where your pony will be and the area where your tack will be. For one-day rallies this area is usually around a trailer.
- Once the rally starts, your parents can't come to the area where the ponies are. You can't talk to your parents during the rally.
- HM will come around to check required equipment, and check the area for safety. Be polite and helpful.
- Before you ride, you’ll go to turnout. This is a D1-D3 Turnout Checklist
They’ll check the cleanliness and safety of you, your tack, and your pony. Be polite. Introduce yourself: “Hi. I’m Josie Doe. I’m a D2 from Burntwoods Pony Club. I’m here for my formal inspection.”
- You are not allowed on your horse until after your safety check. They’ll check your helmet, your girth, and your bridle.
- HM will come around throughout the day to check that your water buckets are full, manure is picked up, and things are clean and safe. Be polite and helpful.
- You might have a TURNBACK. Here, they’re checking that you’ve cleaned all the sweat off your pony, cleaned your tack, and cleaned your saddle pad. After the sweat dries, brush your pony. Wipe your saddle and tack with a sponge and some leather cleaner. Brush the dirt (as much as possible) from the saddle pad. Clean your pony’s boots if he wears them. Clean the boots you rode in.
